Inserts are vital for use in pocket nappies and all in two nappies as they provide the absorbency required. However they can also be used in conjunction with all in ones and fitted nappies if extra absorbency is needed. Inserts made from Hemp are usually used underneath microfiber inserts to provide additional absorbency overnight, on long excursions or for use with a heavy wetter. Hemp is a natural fiber which is usually grown organically then processed with a percentage of cotton it absorbs slower than microfiber, so may not be suitable for use on its own, however unlike microfiber it won't leak when compressed. We recommend having several hemp inserts for use underneath your microfiber inserts at night or when the nappy will be compressed for a long period of time e.g. in a car seat or pram. It is important to note that hemp requires prewashing before use 6-10 times and to expect some shrinkage.
